The Big Shed

 The Big Shed is a bright, modern building with excellent facilities, sitting in a beautiful spot adjacent to the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve, with views over Loch Tay. You’ll find a sandy lochside beach, natural woodlands, large open spaces and mountains, all rich in flora, fauna and archaeological heritage.  

On the ground floor, the Big Shed has a main hall, a kitchenette/small social space, a small well-equipped commercial kitchen and an unfurnished workshop.

There is a live/work creative studio on the first floor.

Our water comes straight from the mountain directly above the Big Shed, via a UV filtration plant, which treats without adding chlorine, leaving it tasting lovely.

The building has wireless broadband.

The Big Shed is a great place for a DIY wedding or private event in a truly lovely  setting.

Big birthdays are the most typical celebrations & are generally informal weekend celebrations with guests either camping on the lawn or finding other accommodation locally, with execellent B&Bs, campsite and self-catering options within three miles. Cooking is shared, with meals served up in the kitchen and eaten either outside enjoying the view, or in the hall. We find most parties end up beside a bonfire in the firepit.

You can choose to exchange your vows on the lawn overlooking Loch Tay, or choose a different scenic spot locally, knowing that the main hall is available in the event of inclement weather.

Although the setting is very rural, the Big Shed is very accessible being less than 2 hours from Edinburgh and only an hour or so from Glasgow airport. The sleeper train from London stops just twenty miles away.

The Main Hall has been designed for maximum flexibility, seating 60 people comfortably for a sit-down meal, It has also  been used for dancing, weddings, parties, fitness classes, retreats seminars, business meetings and rural-themed conferences. 

The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for large groups whether it's self-catering or by a commercial caterer.
