5 of the best eco-friendly paper plates you can buy for your party this summer

The sun has got his hat on - hip hip hip hooray! After what has felt like a very long Winter and Spring, we've finally got some sunshine in the UK, and we are LOVING it!

As we all know very well, sunshine = picnics! And BBQs. And play dates outside with the paddling pool. So if you're hosting a shindig this summer - whether it's actually a birthday party or just a bank holiday picnic, here are our top 5 eco friendly paper plates we've seen for sale lately, so that you can save yourself some washing up without causing a headache for the environment.

First up are these beautiful scalloped large paper plates, from NOTHS, made from wood fiber, bamboo and sugarcane, and dyed with soy inks. The description says they have a gold foil edge which I can't see in the pictures, but the moulded shape of them makes them look very special indeed!

Next up are these really cool cactus plates from Temu - not a website I've heard of before or shopped from - which claim to be biodegradable. They come in various designs but my favourite are the cactus.

My next 3 are all from Amazon, and so include affiliate links.

These green stripy guys are quite fun! And claim to be biodegradable. So if you're having a loud and brash party, these could be just the ticket. You can dumb them down with some more subtle napkins.

Now these leaf plates are a little full on and would make you feel like you're in The Jungle Book or I'm a Celebrity but you would most certainly feel like you were being environmentally friendly. They're made from Sal leaves and are 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Last but by all means least are these palm leaf plates, complete with cutlery, which would be a little severe for a picnic, but perfect if you're tablescaping a more refined alfresco dining event!
