About British School Hall
Built in 1870 and paid for by public subscription, the school existed to provide education for the non-conformist population of Stroud. It is now part of the complex of buildings owned by OPENhouse, which also houses the Star Anise Arts Café.
We hope the Hall, with its pretty courtyard setting alongside Star Anise Arts Cafe, will become an artistic hub for Stroud and the five valleys. A place where good food, exciting performances and an entertaining and innovative approach to the arts can be experienced. Our aim is to produce and present a year-round rich and varied programme of theatre and other performing arts that will enrich Stroud’s cultural life.
The Hall can currently seat up to 60 comfortably, with movable seating allowing for a totally flexible space.
