Callow Parish Hall, Callow, HR2 8DD, Herefordshire, England
Callow Parish Hall is the only public meeting place in the Group Parish of Callow and Haywood, which comprises the villages of Callow, Dewsall, Grafton, Haywood and parts of both Twyford and Bullingham.
The Parish Hall, just over the road from St Mary’s Church, Callow, was originally the village school. When the school closed in 1953, a group of local farmers bought it and donated it to the parish to be used as a meeting place.
The Parish Hall is run by a small committee of volunteers and holds regular coffee mornings (including delicious cakes and a book exchange), the meetings of the parish council and community broadband company (Herefordshire Community Networks), and special events such as (last year) a pre-Christmas dinner, a birthday party for one of the the parish’s oldest residents, and a meeting to plan events for the Platinum Jubilee of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. (The beautiful cockspur thorn in the grounds having been planted, incidentally, to celebrate the Silver Jubilee). There is a Defibrillator on the rear outside wall, complete with instructions.
We are in the process of arranging a series of new events based on feedback from a questionnaire recently delivered to parishioners. We expect these to include keep-fit, talks and presentations, quiz nights, fish and chips night, curry night and more. If you are a parishioner, and have not already filled in the questionnaire, please do so by going to the Questionnaire page.
The Parish Hall is well equipped and available for hire for events by members of the public or local businesses. All future events in the Parish Hall are shown on our events calendar here.
