About Slaley Commemoration Hall
Our lovely village Hall was refurbished and extended in 2022. With good parking and green space all around it, the Commemoration Hall (also a War Memorial Hall) is within easy walking distance of a community pub, a community shop and St Mary's Church.
Users enter through the venerable front door into a clean-lined modernised well-lit and welcoming vestibule. Turn left and there is a very well-appointed kitchen with an industrial quality range cooker and dishwasher and a full range of cutlery, crockery and cook-ware. Look ahead and there is the door to our large, light, airy Main Hall with access through a hatch to the kitchen. Look right and a wide corridor gives access to five new, spacious gender-neutral toilets, one of which has disabled facilities and a baby-changing facility. Look further and there is access to the Community Room. This brand new room provides a more intimate setting, has double doors leading out onto the (built in 2023 by Man's Shed), large deck from which the user can look north to a fabulous view of Cheviot.
Getting back to the Main Hall: this is a flexible space which has accommodated wedding meals and christenings, (and wakes), sports and fitness, afternoon teas and suppers, badminton and film club, conferences and meetings (I could go on). With chairs and tables, table tennis tables and AV cabinet all on the same level, these are accessible to all. The Main Hall has a loop system. WiFi is free and is high quality throughout the building.
Concerned about the 'green agenda'? We have to admit to having a gas boiler for the coldest of days but we have newly fitted solar panels and solar battery storage to help keep all users warm. Our flexible heating system means that our halls can be used independently so the Life Drawing class can have a warm community room whilst the more active folk in the Main Hall can have a cool space.
