Our Grade II listed village hall is a fabulous light and open space for parties, concerts, exhibitions and classes. The 19th century hall, with its neutral décor, sprung wooden floor and fully adjustable lighting, has been sympathetically extended with a modern kitchen and toilets. Glazed folding doors mean the 50-foot space can be divided in two; there is also a generous entrance hall with plenty of space for coats, display boards or welcoming hosts and a separate committee room.
A large meeting room with double doors leading out into a pretty little yard provides extra space, and also private access to a small stage that leads to the main hall.
The hall is accessible for wheelchair users and is licensed for 80 people seated or 100 standing. It is available to hire by the day, half day or evening, including weekends. There is a full-size (10’ x 8’) screen and Wi-Fi access. The meeting room and corridors have fitted picture-hanging tracks. Free car parking is available on the opposite side of the road. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a double oven, microwave, tea urn and fridge-freezer. Crockery and cutlery, tables and chairs are included in the booking fee, though of course you are welcome to bring in different furniture if you prefer. A village café, held every Thursday morning from 10am to midday, is open to all – please come and have a coffee and look around, with no obligation.
The exterior of our hall has changed very little (below) since it was built in 1847 – though Mudford’s main street, the A359, has changed a lot. Originally the village school, the hall was bought by subscription in 1951 as a war memorial and serves the three villages of Mudford, Chilton Cantelo and Ashington. It is in regular use by the community for quiz nights, bingo, dog training, lunches, craft fayres, adult education, church bazaars and much more.

The Hall and the facilities perfect, but unfortunately the heating did not seem to be working as well. We all kept our coats on for the entire party which did spoil our day. Also difficult to get hold of someone to sort the heating problem out.
