The Joy Abbott Hall

The hall is the former church building which currently has pews and will hold up to a maximum of 200 people.  There is a gallery which will hold another 50.  The hall is entered by large doors  at the front of the building where there is a foyer for ticket sales, reception etc. The hall has a raised area for performers where there is also situated an important vintage organ.  Hiring the Joy Abbott Hall also gives you access to the whole of Friars Hall at the rear which includes toilets, kitchen and other facilities.  It is therefore more than suitable for concerts, talks and large meetings. There is a good P.A. system and heating.

It must be understood that whilst the church is accessible to persons with disabilities, the gallery is reached by flights of stairs and the toilets are in Friars Hall and so wheelchair users and persons with mobility problems have to go outside the Joy Abbott Hall to reach the facilities.

                             

                                     Friars Hall

Friars Hall is the original church hall which has easy access with no steps.  The hall has a maximum capacity of 100 seated.  There is a kitchen with a large serving hatch into the hall and a large supply of crockery and cutlery which can be used for serving teas, coffees and light refreshments but it is not equipped for hot food preparation.

The area is most suitable for music rehearsals, group meetings, talks, exercise classes and celebrations.  Within the hire charge is the use of the kitchen facilities, chairs, tables etc.

Lighting is new LED and there is a hearing loop fitted.

There are generous discounts for multiple bookings (10 or more over a year).

The Anthony Wheeler Room

This room is ideal for small meetings.  It will seat up to 20 theatre style and 10 boardroom style. 

There is a kitchen with a large serving hatch into the room and a large supply of crockery and cutlery which can be used for serving teas, coffees and light refreshments but it is not equipped for hot food preparation.

Within the hire charge is the use of the kitchen facilities, chairs, tables etc.

There are generous discounts for multiple bookings (10 or more over a year).

Please note that if there is a hirer of Friars Hall at the same time, it is necessary to share the toilets and kitchen and access and egress is through the hall itself.


                            Consulting Room

This room is ideal for interviews, consultations and more private meetings.  There is a table in the room and it will seat up to 6 boardroom style but is more suitable for 2 or 3 people.  The room itself is set apart from the main hall and so offers a greater degree of privacy.

It is currently accessed via a small flight of steps and so it is not suitable for wheelchair users or anyone who is unable to climb stairs.  

Within the hire charge is the use of the kitchen facilities, chairs, tables etc.

There are generous discounts for multiple bookings (10 or more over a year).

Please note that if there is a hirer of Friars Hall at the same time, it is necessary to share the toilets and kitchen and access and egress is through the hall itself.
