Downham Market Methodist Church

Downham Market Methodist Church is a thriving church, open 7 days a week, with a variety of groups and activities for all ages.  While primarily a place of Christian worship, it exists for the benefit of the whole community.  Everyone is welcome to use its facilities and join the many clubs and groups which use the premises.

It is possible to rent one of our three rooms for your organisation to meet, either on a regular basis or an ad-hoc basis.  Rooms can also be rented for family parties.  It is a great place if you want to have a big family gathering or a children’s birthday party in a larger space than you have available at home.  Please note that no alcohol is allowed on the premise.

Monday to Friday mornings, until 1pm, the social centre provides a place to meet with hot drinks and later lunch available.  Hirers, in other parts of the building, are welcome to purchase drinks from the social centre during this time.  They are also welcome to purchase lunch in the social centre before or after their meetings.  Lunch can even be purchased to consume in your meeting room, as a group, by prior arrangement.

All areas of the building, except the stage, are wheel chair easy access.  There is a disabled and baby changing toilet.

Our main church hall, seats about 142 people in rows or 80 round 6 foot tables.   It is ideal for larger meetings or events.  There is also a stage which can be used for shows, with a piano in situ ready for use. An audio system - CD player and microphone – are available on request.

Our function room is an ideal room for meetings, seating 50 in rows or 40 round 6 foot tables. There is a piano in this room.

The classroom is an ideal room for small meetings.  It can seat 24 people in row or 18 around 6 foot tables.  There is a piano in this room.

The vestry can be used, if not required for church business.  It is an ideal space for small meetings, where a private space is needed.  It has a maximum capacity of 4 people.

The social centre is open to the general public between 9am and 1:30pm Monday to Friday.  Outside of these hours the social centre and kitchen can be hired.   The social centre can seat 26 at tables.

The main church can be hired, for appropriate events, with the agreement of the minister.  Please note that Funerals, Weddings and Baptisms are not classed as lettings.  If you want to discuss one of these please contact the minister on 01366 388766. The church has fixed pews and can seat 182.
