Reviews of St Marks Community Centre, Widcombe, Bath

St Mark’s Community Centre is a wonderful venue and has truly become a home for our community. After nearly three years of hosting Ecstatic Dance Bath here, it has grown into a space that feels warm, welcoming and full of life. The main hall has beautiful wooden floors and is a great size for movement events, with a second smaller hall that works really well for additional activities or breakout spaces. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with ramps at the front entrance, and the hall itself is fully accessible. There are toilets on both sides of the hall, including two accessible toilets as well as baby changing facilities, making the venue inclusive and practical for many different groups. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, fridge, and plenty of crockery and cutlery, which makes it ideal for community gatherings, workshops and celebrations. We bring our own sound system, however there is also a great sound system, and heating-wise infrared heaters, which keep the space comfortable for events all year round. I’ve also held family and community events in the centre and garden, which is a lovely size and pleasantly tucked away so it doesn’t feel overly overlooked for a city location. Detached so no sound issues with neighbours. Convenient as 3 minute walk from Bath Spa Station. Minimal parking - more than enough for organisers/crew, lots of parking nearby for our dancers - with advance notice this hasn’t been a problem for us/our dancers. What really makes St Mark’s special are the people who care for the venue. The team are supportive, the booking process is straightforward, and the hire fees are very reasonable for such a well-maintained community space. We absolutely love St Mark’s and feel very grateful to be part of the community here. Abi Founder Ecstatic Dance Bath

This is an incredible hall. We ran a charity ceilidh there, one of several gigs over the years. We raised £2,250 and it was wonderful. The hall is practically in the centre of Bath, just across the river from the train and bus stations, there are chairs, tables, crockery etc and a p.a. system with lighting. There is parking for up to 8 cars and a garden. The hall is large and airy with a side room where we ran the bar and raffle, and a kitchen. There is even a room for changing and secure storage during the gig behind the stage. It is a bit shabby, but that is reflected in the low cost of £28 and hour with a charity discount available. A real gem of a find, often free in school holidays and Saturday nights. Perfect for parties, though you must vacate by 11pm.
