Ranby Village Hall

Ranby Village Hall is situated between Retford and Worksop in North Nottinghamshire and is easily accessible from the A1.  The hall can be hired by anyone, but especially the local community and organisations, for a range of activities such as dance, art, dog training classes, band practice, birthday parties, training sessions and meetings. 

Originally known as Ranby Club, the hall was built in 1927 by Sir Albert Bingham, as a sports and social club for use by the residents of Ranby and the surrounding area.  You had to be a member and pay a fee, and over the next 30 years it provided facilities for snooker, darts, bowls and tennis.

In 1960 the hall was given to the village by the estate of Sir Albert Bingham, to be run by a committee.

In 1963 it became a charity and was renamed Ranby Village Hall with the trustees being appointed from local organisations.  (Registered Charity No: 224966).

By this time the various sports facilities had declined and disappeared and the hall could be hired by any group that wished to hold a function.

By 2010 it was recognised that the building needed considerable work carrying out if it was to continue to provide a service to the community. 

Money was raised, grants obtained, designs agreed and after extensive refurbishment work, one of Ranby’s oldest residents, Mrs Mavis Wollerton, BEM, cut the ribbon to declare Ranby Village Hall "open for business" in May 2017.

Extensive works have been undertaken to ensure the hall can be enjoyed by future generations of local people. The hall is an important focal point for the local community, who use it for a wide variety of activities.

Hall Facilities

The size of the hall is 16.7 m (55 ft 5 ins) long by 8.9 m (29 ft 2 ins) wide, which is approximately 149 square metres (1,619 sq. ft.).

Maximum licensed capacity 100.

Chairs to seat 100 people.

Folding tables: 9 tables 1.8 m x 0.75 m (6 ft x 2.5 ft); 8 tables 1.2 m x 0.75 m (4 ft x 2.5 ft).

Sound system:   Simply plug in your smart phone, tablet, laptop computer or MP3 into our amplifier and get lots of sound from our 2 large speakers.

Ceiling mounted overhead projector.

Guest WiFi (available on the understanding you agree & accept the terms & conditions of use on the website).

FACILITIES FOR DISABLED PEOPLE:

A ramp with a handrail gives easy, safe access into the hall.

All areas of the hall are on the same level with no steps.

A toilet for disabled users is in the entrance foyer.

NAPPY CHANGING FACILITIES

Nappy changing facilities including a unisex wedge anti roll nappy changing mat with curved sides and raised edges are provided in the toilet block.

CCTV cameras cover the internal main hall and the external entrances/exit to assist in the management and security of the business.
