I am very disappointed with my recent experience hiring this hall.
We hired the hall from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and we fully complied with this. The hall itself was vacated, cleaned, and the keys returned by 6:00 pm. The only delay was in cars leaving the very tight car park, which naturally took a few minutes - something that is not covered anywhere in the hire agreement.
Despite this, Sue (who manages the hall) chose to accept without question another hirer’s unverified claim that the hall was still in use and deducted two hours’ worth of fees from my deposit. At no point did she ask for my account or request any evidence before making this decision. I have video proof that the hall was vacated by the agreed time, but she did not bother to investigate.
Her handling of this matter was extremely rude, even going so far as to call me “rude” and “bad mannered” in her email. I find it unprofessional that bookings are scheduled back-to-back with no buffer time, and then customers are penalised for issues outside their control.
It seems they are willing to take any excuse to cut into your deposit. Very disappointing experience - I certainly would not recommend this hall to others.
About The Farleighs WI Hall
The Farleighs WI Hall is situated in the picturesque village of East Farleigh.
Our hall has the capacity to seat up to sixty people at tables or 100 seated.
Its functions are many, from regular hirers, clubs, well-being and dance classes to parties and celebrations. We regret we are unable to host birthday parties for children over the age of 10yrs.
We have recently had a new kitchen installed with cooker, fridge, utensils, tea cups and saucers, crockery, an urn and kettle.
Other features include a stage with good acoustics.
We have lavatories and disabled facilities.
There is a car park to the rear of the hall with parking for a few cars in the front of the hall, additional parking in the nearby lane.
