About Northfield Quaker Meeting House
Northfield Quaker Meeting House sits in secure grounds at the end of Meeting House Lane adjacent to Victoria Park. We are located 2 minutes from No. 18, 19 and 27 buses on Church Rd, 4 minutes from stops for no. X61. 63, 98 and 144 buses on the Bristol Rd, and 14 minutes from Northfield Train Station. Our own carpark can hold about 15 cars; there is a council car park immediately adjacent.
Built in 1929, the meeting house is an attractive but simple Quaker building. Extensions provide a spacious kitchen, accessible WC, garden room and patio opening onto the garden. The hall maintains its original beauty with Georgian windows (now with secondary glazing) and high ceilings (now with modern lighting). Double doors open onto the garden. The well equipped kitchen now has triple glazed windows. In 2015 we added solar PV to our roof, after insulating to achieve a D rated EPC. The entrance foyer and adjacent rooms were redecorated in 2016. There is wheelchair access by ramps to the side entrance and onto the patio. A portable ramp can provide access to the front door if required.
You are welcome to use the kitchen for coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks free of charge. We do not permit smoking or alcohol on the premises.
Quakers meet here for worship at 6 pm on the last Sunday of every month. Local Quakers hold a Creative Day on the first Saturday of every month (10 am – 4 pm with shared lunch) to which all are welcome. You are invited to bring your own projects (sewing, knitting, painting etc.) to enjoy in fellowship. The Quaker Preschool uses the building during the day in term times. (B31 2LD)
