Home to the Commonwork Trust and Commonwork Organic Farms Ltd, Bore Place is set in 500 acres of countryside which encompass an organic dairy farm, organic market gardens, conference centre, environmental education centre, as well as programmes on sustainability, organic agriculture, horticulture, art, health and well-being.  

Bore Place is a living example of sustainable living, learning and working. From the energy we use, the food we eat and the rainwater we recycle, we aim to challenge conventional behaviours with fresh thinking.

We offer 3 on-site accommodation options, and an additional 2 meeting spaces which can be hired individually or collectively.

Our on-site organic kitchen can cater to all your food and beverage needs (including any specific dietary requirements/allergies). Self-catering is also available.

For visitors choosing a catered stay, our chef will prepare meals taking the current season as a guide and using as much as possible from our own organic farm and gardens. We pride ourselves on providing fresh, delicious food, sourced as ethically as possible.

Outdoor seating areas and access to beautiful gardens and the wider estate for walks and picnics. Enjoy the woods, nature ponds and meadows on the farm trail.


Meeting rooms, group activities & conference facilities:

We have 2 meeting spaces available.

The Large Barn (Perfect for meetings, presentations, functions, dance and music...) seats up to 150 people presentation-style or up to 80 at tables.

The Middle Yard is available for meetings, teaching, hands-on activities. It comes set up with A/V equipment and can seat up to 100 people. A teaching kitchen is also available.


Accommodation options: 

Our largest accommodation space - Bore Place House - is a beautiful, Jacobean building available for residential group meetings, weddings and social functions and holidays.

Bore Place House has 12 bedrooms which can be shared or single occupancy which sleep up to 25 people. One has a private W.C and shower room, other bedrooms share bathrooms (approximately 3 rooms to one bathroom).

There is a large and comfortable sitting room with an open fire, 3 further meeting/reception rooms and a large kitchen and dining room for guest's use.

The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens incorporating terraced areas, ponds, borders and beds, lawns and informally planted areas.

Included for your stay:

All linen including towels supplied. Seasonal produce such as organic fruit and veg from our market garden can be ordered and purchased from us.

Looking for something smaller?

We have 2 additional properties on site: The Old Stable (11 bedrooms, sleeps up to 19 people) and The Small Barn (2 bedrooms, sleeps up to 4 people).


Team building activities:

We run regular workshops and group activities in tune with our sustainability philosophy for the wider community. We would be happy to help you create a team-building event in tune with your surroundings. Getting there and away:

The nearest mainline stations are Penshurst (1 mile), Hildenborough (3 miles) or Tonbridge (6 miles) away.

By air: London Gatwick is the nearest airport (approx. 22 miles/45 minutes by car)

Availability and Hire Costs

Availability: Available for hire 7 days a week. Overnight accommodation also available.

Hire Costs: Due to the varied nature of the events we host, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive list of rates. Please contact us with your requirements and we can discuss prices and options based on your budget. Self catering also available. Sample rate: Day delegate package £50 pp + VAT. This package includes: Daytime room hire, all equipment (please book in advance); Lunch, 2 x tea & coffee breaks with biscuits, 1 x tea & coffee break with cake; Equipment: laptop, data projector and screen, flipchart stand, pads and pens.
