Stratford-sub-Castle Reading Room

Our village hall is called The Reading Room and is a well used, valuable community resource available for hire.

The Reading Room is superbly situated in the Avon Valley, 1 and a half miles north of Salisbury, below Old Sarum opposite St. Lawrence Church, next to its own generous car park.  It was comprehensively renovated in 2010, preserving the ambience of a late Victorian village hall in the Romantic tradition but with modern standards of comfort and services including wide door access and disabled toilet.

The main hall is 11.5 m long and 6.4 m wide with space for up to 60 people at a fully seated function or 75  seated in rows  A fully-equipped kitchen (2.5m x 5.5m) is at one end.   There is a small grassed area on two sides of the building.

The Reading Room is a popular venue for a wide range of events such as conference and away days, day centres and private parties for weddings and birthdays and is used regularly by community groups and organisations of all ages.  

Facilities:

Large main hall, overhead lighting and ceiling spotlights 11.5 m long by 6.4 m wide 

The hall will hold 60 people seated at tables or 75 people seated in rows.  Tables and chairs available

Gas hob with 4 burners and electric oven beneath

Instantaneous Hot Water boiler

Plently of worktop space
