The Gaskell Hall was opened in 1931 and is named after Elizabeth Gaskell, the novelist who regularly stayed in the village. 

We have two main rooms that can be booked for a variety of activities and is used regularly by village and other groups for many events such as, yoga, pilates, Saturday coffee mornings, Village Players productions, line-dancing, country-dancing, badminton, W.I; one-off parties, lectures, concerts, public meetings etc.

Main Hall - This can be used for Coffee Mornings, Parties, Dances, Community Cinema, Play productions and any other private functions you may wish to hold, the sprung floor is perfect for dancing! Seating and tables for up to 200.

The Rigby Kitchen is located in the Main Hall with Instanta, Filter Coffee Machine, Kettles, Mircowave, Fridge and crockery.

Also available 

A sound system with induction loop for hearing-aid users, with cable mike or  radio mikes, USB, Headphone Jack and Bluetooth connections.

Full size projection screen, the curtains have blackout linings so the hall can be darkened for projection etc.


The Green Room - This can be used for conferences, meetings and smaller private functions. Seating for up to 40. 

The Green Room has it's own large kitchen and disabled accessible toilet facilities, with a wheel chair lift between the two floors. 

The Green Room also has it's own entrance.

Availability and Hire Costs

Availability: The hall is available thoughout the year, please see our availability calenders for whats free. Saturday mornings are usually booked for Coffee Mornings but not always.

Hire Costs: £12 for the main hall £6 for the Green Room £15 for both price per hour - non profit £ 25 per hour for profit making ventures. £85 for a coffee morning.
