WILBERFOSS COMMUNITY CENTRE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK.  WE WILL FOLLOW GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES AND RE-OPEN AS SOON AS WE CAN.  BOOKINGS BEYOND THE ENFORCED CLOSURE ARE STILL BEING TAKEN.

Wilberfoss is a thriving village 8 miles east of the beautiful city of York (which in 2018 topped the Sunday Times Best Place to Live in the UK list)  and 5 miles from the thriving town of Pocklington.  With easy access straight off the A1079 York to Hull road, our well used Community Centre sits in the heart of the village and benefits from:-

FREE Wifi for all users
A 250 person capacity with lightweight tables and chairs to seat up to 110 people
A one-to-one office space and small meeting room, offering different rates for business users and those wanting to use the rooms as a study zone
An enclosed, well-maintained garden
25 car parking spaces
Level access, which is ideal for our disabled users
Moveable partition walls, which offer the flexibility to create 1, 2 or 3 rooms in our main hall.
A solid maple floor which is hardwearing and suitable for keep fit and dance groups.
A disabled toilet which also incorporates a baby changing station
A large fully fitted kitchen to include cutlery, crockery, catering kettles, two fridges, flasks, a microwave and a built in oven.

Built in 1999 and having benefitted from a floor and kitchen upgrade since then, our Community Centre has been described as one of the best in the county.  We currently play host to a number of voluntary, community-led groups, keep fit classes, dance classes, art and craft classes, the local Brownies and Guides, baby music groups, a karate class, and many more.  Some of our groups have been with us since the Centre opened!

Located on Main Street, opposite the village pub, it is the perfect venue for a party or large gathering.

The Centre is run by paid staff - our Manager, Sarah, our Cleaner, Sue,  and Alan our Caretaker.  Their aim is to ensure that you have everything you need to make your event successful.  With a Facebook page and good local links Sarah, who has managed the Community Centre for 15 years, can help you advertise your event or new class, should that be necessary .

Please contact Sarah.  She'll be delighted to show you round!

Reviews of Wilberfoss Community Centre

  • I have recently begun running Yoga classes in Wilberfoss Community Centre and feel very thankful to have found such a great venue. The enthusiasm with which the Centre is run is contagious and helps to make the whole experience a pleasure. It is clean, comfortable and well organised, with great attention to detail so that events run well alongside one another and as a newcomer to the area, the help given on organisation and promotion has been invaluable.

  • We have been running a weekly Table Tennis Club since January at the Community Centre. Sarah has always been really helpful and supportive with our new venture and has also been flexible about changes in times etc. She has also helped us to advertise our new club and our fundraising events. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are very adaptable, to suit different types of events and numbers of people attending. It is always immaculate and the caretaker is really helpful as well.

  • For about 15 years I was lucky to use the Community Centre in Wilberfoss for twice weekly and later weekly keep fit classes. I rent several Halls but nothing can be compared with the Centre in Wilberfoss. The room has been clean, easy to warm up, a good price and good clean toilets. The reason I left is that we moved to a different area. I still miss the class there, but keep good memories. Whenever I had a request for a change in time or to stay a bit later they helped me. And lastly there is a good and safe car park. Altogether an excellent Community Centre that really helps the community in Wilberfoss. Keep up the good work! Jos Tysma, Bempton.

  • Wilberfoss Art Group has used the Wilberfoss Community Centre for many years. There is plenty of space and an excellent kitchen area for the half time cup of tea. The hall is clean and well kept, the tables are always set out as we need them before we arrive. The rates are very reasonable and Sarah is always most helpful.

  • I've been using the community centre to run my V-Healthy classes for about 7 years now. It's a great centre as it's always spotless (unlike many of the other venues I use) & the room sizes vary. I've never had any problems at the centre & would recommend anyone to use it. The caretaker is super helpful. Once I noticed there was a tree that had fallen down outside & called him. He came out within minutes to move it.

  • Body Fix Bootcamp as been hiring the hall or the past 12 weeks to deliver early morning fitness classes to clients from the surrounding area! Sarah has been fantastic since our very first communication, we find the process very simple including bookings, changes and payment. The hall is an excellent space and very good value for money, it’s always clean and tidy!
